GHANA 4 FIELDS DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING AND FOLLOW UP IN NORTHERN TOGO
GHANA 4 FIELDS DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING AND FOLLOW UP IN NORTHERN TOGO
Amen, Charles Odoi has reported the following as follow up on the many souls baptised and churches planted.
Our Master Jesus Christ kept going back to places He had already preached. In imitating Him, Paul also visited the new churches he had established (Acts 14:21-22), as a way of follow up to encourage the new Brethren in the Lord.
Yesterday, I left Dr. George Akpabli to do the Training at Kara with the help of 2 of the people we had Trained earlier - Gladstone and Laurent.
The Participants had been divided into groups to discuss the Tools they had learned. They did very well presenting them, and at the end of the day, their excitement was on a different level. They expressed so much joy for learning a very simple way of making disciples for Jesus Christ and multiply churches in the process. We had encouraged them from day 1, to go to other communities, including Burkina Faso, in obedience to the Master, in making disciples of all the nations.
Meanwhile, I joined Brother John Morkli and the other members of the Team - Philip and Emmanuel, to travel to the newest mission field - Dapaong, the farthest north of Togo.
We were able to visit only 5 out of the 12 new churches we established a couple of weeks ago, due to the long distances between them. The excitement of these new brethren upon seeing us was just so encouraging.
Our disappointment, however, was that, all the 12 congregations met to worship God on the first Sunday after our departure (February 13, 2022), but some waited on the second Sunday (February 20, 2022), without anyone coming over to worship with them. Apparently, due to the distances between them, by the time the assigned preachers got there from their first places of worship, the congregants had left after hours of waiting. Due to the limited number of preachers helping the area, we assigned each preacher to at least 3 congregations. Meanwhile, all these 4 places that were not visited had new people from the community attending, who wanted to be baptized. Truly, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few (Luke 10:2).
My highest point was that of an old man in his 70s. He said, “I have never attended church before in my entire life. The message you people gave us about Jesus Christ has renewed my hope in God. But as we met here and kept waiting for the people to come and help us worship God, my faith began to shrink. But your coming here today has renewed and strengthened my faith again.”
The follow up had revealed what is needed urgently in these new places - the Three Thirds Method of Discipleship, one of the tools of the 4 Fields. While we have directed some of the Participants of the 4 Fields Discipleship Training at Kara on what to do to help these new brethren, we have also instructed the Students of the Bible College to travel to Dapaong on Weekends, as they use the place as their Practical Field. Once again, positive collaboration at work in the Kingdom of our Lord.
Thanks for all involved in this great work for God and humanity. Please keep praying for the new Brethren as well as the newly Trained.
Wow, just so much energy. Let’s pray for these missionaries. Thank You Lord and thank you all involved.
